Thanks for all the time, work, and heart you've put into your music. I can speak for EVERYONE when I say Every Avenue will be missed and no one will be able to compete with the legacy you guys will leave.
"these are the days that we will always remember"
Dave's voice is gorgeous (that goes without saying), and their music got me through several difficult periods of time in high school and college. It was also the backdrop to college, so I can't say I regret a moment of listening to it! Plus, I have some CRAZY memories associated with them! Love you guys, and good luck with everything! I'm going to try my hardest to get out to one of these last shows!
First of all, Iâm flying from Salt Lake City, Utah to Detroit, Michigan to see The Last Call Tour, if that canât sum up how much they mean to me, I donât know what can.
It's hard to put into words what Every Avenue means to me and how much they have truly impacted my life. They've brought me closer to my sister, ignited friendships, and made me feel like I do belong somewhere.
Me and my sister haven't always gotten along the best, but there is one they we can agree on, music. It's amazing to share that love and passion with her. Every Avenue is without a doubt, one of our favorite bands. When we heard they were going on hiatus, we were crushed, especially that The Last Call Tour was not coming anywhere near SLC. We both instantly decided that we would fly to a show. We picked Michigan in hopes of seeing two shows, Detroit and Port Huron, not to mention on their home turf!(; I have been lucky enough to see Every Avenue four times, but she has yet to see them. It would mean the world to me for her to be able to meet the boys. It would make emptying our savings accounts for this adventure, just that much more worth it.
That brings me to what I admire most about Dave, Josh, Jimmie, Matt, and Dennis. That is their love and appreciation for their fans. The first time I met Dave in 2010, he kindly introduced himself and asked what my name was. He was so willing to have a conversation with me (and everyone else) when he had a huge line of people waiting to meet him. These boys are ALWAYS out meeting fans out after shows. They honestly don't know how much that means to me.
But,
My most memorable experience at one of their shows, was at their Co-Headliner with We Are The In Crowd in February. When the boys went to come back on stage for their encore, the venue had turned the power off on them, to rush the crowd out the doors so they could open the club. Dave stayed put on that stage and played that encore, just him and his guitar, no lights, no mic, no amps. It was one of the most amazing moments in my life. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of gratefulness, and knew that was exactly why I loved this band so much.
If that wasn't enough excitement for the night, the venue then threatened to call the cops on Dave for "trespassing" for staying in the venue to take pictures and talk with the fans. The security started to literally push people out of the venue and Dave stood up for them. The whole band was then kicked out of the venue, without their phones, jackets, etc, all of it left in the venue and greenroom. As everyone waited for the cops to show up, was the band freaking out? Or leaving? No, they were taking pictures and talking to everyone. I have yet to see another band so dedicated to their fans. It was amazing to see just how much they cared to play that encore for us and to meet us.
I have spent countless amount of hours waiting in line (I'm short and like to know that I will be able to see from the front) for shows, street teaming (pushing a single for radio, hanging up poster for tours and cd releases), I've made lifelong friendships because of them. One of those friends moved 2000 miles away to Georgia and our motto is "'Cause this is see you later, I'm not into goodbyes." Hell, even my mom and dad love Every Avenue!
So, to say the least, it would literally mean the world to win those meet and greets. For my sister to be able to meet them and for me to be able to thank them for the amazing impact they have had on me.
These men have gotten me through the roughest times in my life. When all hope in life was lost for me, they were there. When I was abandoned by all of my “friends” after high school and even some of my college friends, they remained. When I needed someone to talk to about what I’m going through, they were there. They were my rock. My foundation. They formed me into the person I am today. They give me strength. Strength I’ve never had to carry on living everyday in such a hateful and meaningless world. When I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life and where to go, they showed me it was normal and they felt the same way too. When I was lost without a direction to go, they showed me where to go. Those nights I spent locked in my room deeper than I've ever been in my life, they were there with me telling me to “take a step back. Hold on tighter.” They taught me how to accept who I am and showed me reasons why I shouldn't hate myself. I can’t express how much these men have impacted and influenced my life. There’s a reason I have “EA” tattooed on my bicep. It represents the strength they've given me. The on going struggle of staying strong in life and its up's and down's. It represents that no matter what, their music will always be by my side. It sucks to see them go, but no matter what, they will always have 100% of my support. I still can’t wrap my mind around the thought of them not being around anymore. I’ll always be waiting to hear about a new album, a new tour, that they’re writing new music….They’ll always be a band in my eyes. They’ll always be my FAVORITE band. They’ve gotten me through more than any person can. They never left my side even when other people did. They are like my best friends. I feel like they get me more than anyone and know exactly how I’m feeling and exactly what I’m going through. It’s all so unreal that this is their last tour. I don't know who I would be without them. They'll always be my favorite band. Hands down. They truly are my heroes.
I'll never forget when I saw them. It was on their headlining tour with We Are The In Crowd. I drove about 3 and a half hours because my location sucks and no one EVER comes around here. After the show, I waited an hour and a half outside to meet the band. I was talking to Dave and told him with me being a solo artist, he was the person that I look up to the most. He gave me a fist bumb, told me that I was awesome and then gave me one of the biggest hugs I've ever gotten. That's something I'll never forget. They're all really great people and some of the nicest people I've ever met. It's hard to see them go, but hopefully this is just a "see you later".
“No matter how far apart we’ll always have the memories.” “For always, forever”. “I’ll be right beside you.” “We are all a wreck.”
I've been able to see the band two times already and am looking forward to this tour. I already have tickets to their show in Philadelphia, but I wanted to share my memories of the band. When I first saw Every Avenue, it was in November of 2010 in Lancaster, Pa at Chameleon Club. I was hooked as soon as they started playing. I knew this band was more than that. I saw them again at TLA in Philly earlier this year and they were even better than before. They had just released "Bad Habits" (which is my favorite of their albums) and it was a show I will never forget.
These guys are musicians who know how to interact with fans and know how to have fun along the way. As the band moves on towards solo and other projects, I only hope that they do come back again and make another album down the road. Every Avenue's music will live on. I can't go a day without hearing at least one song. I know I'm not the only one. So thanks Every Avenue, you have been an inspirational band from the start and I look forward to your future as a band and as individuals. Good luck and I can't wait until December 12th!
"These are the days that we will always remember. Chasing the night to make our days better."
Thank you guys for being you and I wish you all the best of luck in your future!
I was able to take some great photos, as I am an aspiring photography student. I got such great comments from these photos!
Unfortunately, me and my boyfriend had to leave early, because his grandpa had fallen ill, and he had to make a 45 min snowy drive to Battle Creek, MI.
Although some of the band members were battling the Flu, they still put on a great show and I will forever remember this awesome intimate show that they put on. Thanks guys!
